It's one the same level of ''I feel like a genius for almost understanding this movie after the second watch and it still gives me the chills when I think about it'' Excellent acting and plot!
No double-checked everything. That's what I thought it was at first, but everything looks fine. Then I thought my drivers installation got corrupted, so uninstalled it but as I said I still haven't managed to uninstall it correctly, since everytime I reinstall it my profiles are still there, even though there is nothing residing in Program Files.
The countersteering has a very weird feeling, that has changed recently. The wheel is forcing your hands in the direction, instead of pushing slightly. It really doesn't feel natural as it was just a week ago!
For example, I'm on a straight, I turn lightly in one direction, and if I grip it lightly it literally shoots back in the other direction, strongly overreacting...
Actually I just bumped into this problem...I've had my wheel for almost a year, and it's always been good, but since a week the Ffb is acting really weird. The feeling has changed a lot, or my brain has been rewired or something?
No strange noises whatsoever, everything looks fine, but as the Op stated, the force becomes really strong, and countersteers on its own. As I said, I've had it for a long time and know how it should feel, and it's not that way. I really can't explain the feeling it gives you, but it's something like when you run an ISI sim and forget to set the ffb with a negative value (only the direction the wheel moves it the right one...I'm just talking about that weird strong feeling).
Tried a fresh install of Lfs, tried to uninstall Wingman drivers, but to no avail. Actually I never managed to completely uninstall the drivers, since everytime I uninstall them and reinstall them, the profiles are still there...I'm at loss as to what files I have to delete and where they are?
Should I rush it back before warranty ends? On what grounds?
All lfs forum guys who post there please give us a link to your thread or post! So far I saw only the thread Jagk opened...Which was a waste because he ''assumed" gravity exists...typical brainwashed noob...
If this was true then all racing drivers would be midgets, or jockeys at least.
All cars must weigh no less then a fixed weight at any moment. All the teams have managed to be just under that weight limit and use the rest to balance the car as far as I know...
All I see here is someone being jealous of the probability of someone making it further then him faster and easier than him...
The world as it exists now is neither fair or just...get over it.
And the fact that your stating anybody could do it with enough dedication and courage is exactly what I find naive. YOU are a result of your entourage and the motivation it pushes through you. Be it direct or indirect. ALWAYS.
I grew up in a normal suburban family with no interest whatsoever in automobile racing, and my only passion came from watching tv and the occasional local karting exit allowed once or twice in a year. I was still in a family that paid my meals and scholarship so, no, I couldn't say f**k this all I'm leaving it all for karting (a dead-end career for 95% of the people attempting it). These people pushed me through my attempts of getting a real stable revenue sometime that might get them of their back as quickly as possible, which is what most families attempt to do as politely as possible.
If you ever make it high in your attempt I will be the first to root for you, but that doesn't mean I'm going to discredit anyone who makes it faster and easier than you, and is still FASTER than you.
How many times has it happened that someone on a server is faster than you on their 5th lap with less laps on that combo and less miles on their license overall? Many? Got my point? Would you want to put a penalty on them because they didn't put in as much sacrifice as you did in your sim-racing attempt? This is exactly parallel to what you're saying in this thread.
And please cease this talk about excuses etc...If someone has made it in a higher rank than you in any manner different than you, the important thing is that they made it, and you didn't. That's all that matters. Ceasing opportunities is all that matters.
If all else fails, just print screen and draw the symbol from scratch on photoshop or illustrator so you can use it on the skins. You don't even need to draw it with the magic wand tool.
For me it beats having to mess with weird fonts etc...
Jakg and Tristan, I understand where your stubborness comes from, since at start I had the same opinion with you. But then I saw people really believing it wouldn't take off, and decided to take a second look at the problem. I don't say your opinion is necessarily wrong, but at least take the time to think with another logic.
The problem is in the wording. There are 2 options:
1) The conveyor matches the planes speed = No logic in this phrase, since the planes speed is supposed to be zero. There is a logical gap in this phrase, can't really express it though.
2)The conveyor matches the plane's wheel rotation speed = That's where the whole problem lays, and that is what needs a bit of thinking. THIS is a brain teaser. You guys think along the first phrasing, that's why it's so easy for you.
Think about it, but please take the actual time to think...
*The fact that the power comes from the engines and not from the wheels is absolutely irrelevant. From the moment the plane itself has not reached at least 50 knots relative to the air, the wings are useless.
It really IS irrelevant. The plane has to overcome friction between the wheels and the runway generated from it's weight before starting to move on a runway.
Similarly, a plane with full brakes (good ones) on, and full thrust, won't move forward. From the moment the only contact between the plane and the surface has 0 speed, it won't move. In the following example I'll show why the only contact between the plane and the surfact remains always 0.
*The following example is assuming that the refresh time of the conveyors belt sensor for speed = 0 secs.
Mechanical components are not affected by physics. This means conveyor belt can reach faster than light speeds.
Similarly the plane cannot run out of fuel, or overheat it's engines etc.
This means this can't be tested in real life.
Plane tries to accelerate ( Wheels turn at 5 km/h (not actually 5 km/h of rotational speed but lets say the speed that a car's wheel turns when it runs 5 km/h), Conveyor turns at 5km/h, Plane speed relative to air AND ground beneath = 0, assuming there is no wind that day)
Plane continues trying to accelerate ( Wheels turn at 100 km/h, conveyor turns at 100 km/h too, Plane speed = 0 again)
Plane engages afterburner, still tries ( Wheels turn at 800 km/h, conveyor turns at 800 km/h too, Plane speed = ZERO)
Plane is stil stubborn, ( Wheels turn at Mach 2, conveyor turns at Mach 2 too, Plane speed = Yep you guessed it, 0)
Theoretically in a world where physics don't apply on mechanical components, the wheels and the conveyor belt could reach infinite speed, till disruption of the space/time fabric...
This of course leads to a paradox. This is why it's an unsolvable riddle, like many of them exist, and that is why it has long been discussed.
Not if you think about it. If the conveyor works properly as the problem says, the more you pull, the more the speed of the conveyor will accelerate, leading again to the paradox.
It's a type of paradox like the problem with the Turtle trying to reach the finish line, but never reaching it, because to reach it, it first has to reach the middle, but to reach the middle it has to reach 1/4, and then 1/8, 1/16th and on and on. The turtle logically never even moves. But it the real world, a turtle of course can reach any distance.
I know I won't convince you, nor am I trying to, just trying to explain you why there is such a gap between the two different opinions here. Just different schools of logic.
Btw I'm really dissapointed by Cecil, usually she is more free thinking and less aggressive than this.
